Land Rover Defender is one of the world’s most customisable vehicles, thanks to a large aftermarket that enables you to build a vehicle that fits your needs and desires. The result is a truck that marries off-road capability with on-road refinement in a way that makes it more attractive than SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4Runner.

How much does a custom Defender cost?

The ecd automotive design boxy Defender is a lot of truck, but it’s also roomy and comfortable inside. The 110’s cargo area can easily fit a full-size trailer, which is one of the biggest hauling capacities available in an off-road-oriented SUV.

Its EPA-estimated fuel economy is 19 mpg combined, which is better than the Toyota Land Cruiser and 4Runner, but higher than the Jeep Wrangler’s rated figures. But when it comes to hefty cargo, the Defender’s swing-out tailgate can be tricky to open.

What’s more, it has a front passenger-across bench, which is a rarity in modern SUVs. You’ll have to step over the rear row and then shimmy up to access it.

In the cabin, there’s a nice touch of luxury, with the dashboard evoking “Puma” style from Defenders built after 2007. It has a Pivi Pro infotainment system and a custom-designed center console that features Rough-Cut Walnut or Natural Smoked Dark Oak veneers.

The Defender’s solid axles make it a capable off-roader, but the steering isn’t as precise as you’d expect from a vehicle this old. But the long-travel suspension keeps it feeling supple on the road, and the power is unquestionably good.
